Quinoderm 5% Cream is specifically for the treatment of mild to moderate spots and acne and contains 5% benzoyl peroxide and potassium hydroxyquinoline sulphate. It's perfect for first time users and those with milder cases of acne as it's gentler and less likely to irritate sensitive skin. In fact, it's a good idea to start with the lower strength cream and move up to the higher strength if the milder version doesn't do the trick.
Its dual action means that it's both antibacterial and breaks down surface skin cells (peeling action) to help remove blackheads, unblock pores and prevent excess sebum production. One of the active ingredients, benzoyl peroxide, kills P. acnes, the bacteria responsible for the majority of acne cases. Benzoyl peroxide also reduces inflammation of the pore and as a result, decreases its tendency for becoming blocked.
Route of administration
For topical use only.
To use the cream, make sure the affected area of skin is clean and dry, then massage the cream over the area (not just on the spots themselves, but the skin immediately surrounding them too). This can be done two or three times a day and we would recommend at least in the morning and at night, before going to bed.
Acne rosacea. Patients with known sensitivity to either of the active ingredients should not use Quinoderm Cream.
Contact with mouth and eyes should be avoided. Care should be taken to avoid contact with dyed fabrics as this product may adversely affect dye fastness.
In a few isolated cases, overreaction to Quinoderm Cream may occur. To minimise this possibility, select a small area of skin behind the ear, apply the cream and leave for 12 hours. If severe irritation or pronounced redness occurs, do not proceed with treatment.
Benzoyl Peroxide is an oxidising agent. Hence, Quinoderm Cream should not be used at the same time as other topical agents which would react with an oxidising agent.
