Area Manager

My journey began after completing my pre-registration training with Weldricks and provisionally registering during the COVID pandemic. Initially, I was involved in a wide range of services but ultimately led down the path of leadership and management.

I began my role as a pharmacist in a branch with an experienced branch manager, allowing me to develop my confidence as a pharmacist. I then progressed into a branch manager role, working closely with different departments such as pharmacy support, HR and buying. After this, I took on a more challenging branch with a bigger team, to allow me to further develop my managerial style. I’ve always enjoyed leading teams and seeing the tangible impact of change. Whether it was reorganising processes or introducing new ways of working.

When I shared my interest in expanding my role with my area manager, I was fortunate to be given the opportunities to progress. I was able to step in when my area manager was on annual leave, covering administrative duties, gaining further experience and understanding of the business side of the role. I was given the freedom to use my experience to help other teams, by using knowledge from what was working well in my branch and sharing this with the area to help improve functionality across the wider team. This helped to develop my communication skills and confidence.

Today working as an area manager, I oversee 15 branches and have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of people both within Weldricks and externally attending ICB, CPSY and MP meetings.
