How Sebco Ointment 100g Works

This ointment functions as both an antipruritic and a keratolytic. The key active ingredients work in synergy:

• Coal Tar Solution 12% w/w: Known for its mild antiseptic properties, Coal Tar helps to relieve itching and reduce inflammation. It also aids in reducing the excessive hardening and thickening of the skin, which contributes to scaling.
• Salicylic Acid 2% w/w: This ingredient acts as a keratolytic, meaning it helps to break down keratin, a protein that forms part of the skin structure. By doing so, Salicylic Acid assists in softening and removing stubborn scales and flaky skin, promoting smoother skin on the scalp.
• Sulphur for external use 4% w/w: Sulphur also possesses mild antiseptic and keratolytic actions, further supporting the removal of scales and helping to calm irritated skin.

Together, these ingredients help to normalise skin cell production and reduce the build-up of scales, offering relief from itching and discomfort.

Who Can Use Sebco Ointment 100g?

Sebco Ointment 100g is available from your local pharmacy for use by adults and children over the age of 6. Always read the patient information leaflet carefully before use, and if you are unsure if this product is suitable for you or your child, please speak to our pharmacy team for advice.

Pierce the tube membrane by inverting the cap. Affix the scalp applicator to the threaded portion of the tube.

• Part the hair and apply a thin ribbon of Sebco Ointment 100g to the affected areas of the scalp.
• Take care to avoid contact with the eyes.
• Gently rub in the ointment and leave in contact with scalp for approximately one hour.
• Wash the hands immediately afterwards.
• After one hour, remove the ointment by showering or rinsing with warm water.

Use daily for 3—7 days then intermittently.
