Fungal Nail Infections

Fungal nail infections usually affect toenails, but they can also affect the fingernails. Fungal infections can sometimes occur when an athlete’s foot infection isn’t treated. The infection typically starts at the edge of the nail. It then spreads to the nail plate, causing the nail to become brittle and painful. Fungal infections are very contagious, so if one toenail is affected, more nails can become infected if the problem isn’t treated.

Creams and solutions for fungal nail infections are fast-acting and effective. One course of treatment is often all that’s needed, but if the problem is severe, seek advice from your GP.
