Thrush is a very common fungal infection that affects men, women, and children. It is caused by the Candida Albicans yeast, which occurs naturally but can run rampant if the natural balance in our body is upset. A thrush infection isn’t serious, but the symptoms can be unpleasant and uncomfortable.
Thrush typically affects the genital areas. In women, this is in and around the vagina. In men, it is around the penis head and under the foreskin. Oral thrush affects the mouth, gums, and throat.
Thrush infections in men and women can be treated using topical creams, oral anti-fungal medication, and medicated anti-fungal mouthwashes.
