How to Use Benylin Children's Dry Cough & Sore Throat Syrup 125ml

• Always use the measuring spoon provided in the pack.
• For oral use only.
• Children 1 - 5 years: Give one 5 ml spoonful.
• Children 5 years and over and adults (including the elderly): Give two 5 ml spoonfuls.
• Give the dose 3 or 4 times within 24 hours, as required.
• If symptoms persist for more than 3 days, or if your child does not feel better or starts to feel worse, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
• Do not give to children under 1 year old.
• Do not overfill the spoon.
• Check the cap seal is not broken before first use. If it is, do not take this medicine.
• If you forget a dose, give the next dose when needed. Do not give a double dose.

Important Warnings and Precautions

• Do not give your child Benylin Children's Dry Cough & Sore Throat Syrup 125ml if:
  • They are under 1 year old.
  • They are allergic to any of the ingredients listed in the product.
  • If your child has an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor or pharmacist before use.
• Possible Side-Effects: This medicine is unlikely to cause side-effects unless your child is allergic to the ingredients. If your child experiences any of the following, stop giving the medicine and seek immediate medical help:

  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat (severe allergic reactions).

• Contains Sugars: This product contains 2.15 g glucose and 1.7 g sucrose in each 5 ml, which may be harmful to the teeth. This should be taken into account for patients with diabetes.
• Carbohydrate Content: 3.4 g per 5 ml.
• Propylene Glycol (E1520): This medicine contains 3.53mg propylene glycol (E1520) in each 5ml dose, which is equivalent to 0.71mg/ml.
• Sodium Benzoate (E211): This medicine contains 10 mg sodium benzoate (E211) in each 5ml, which is equivalent to 2 mg/ml.
• Benzyl Alcohol: This medicine contains 0.000053 mg benzyl alcohol in each 5ml (equivalent to 0.000011 mg/ml). Benzyl alcohol may cause allergic reactions. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice if you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you have a liver or kidney disease. Do not use for more than a week in young children (less than 3 years old), unless advised by your doctor or pharmacist. This is due to an increased risk from accumulation in young children.
• This medicine contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per 5 ml, that is to say essentially 'sodium-free'.
• If anyone has taken too much: Contact a doctor or your nearest Accident & Emergency department, taking this pack with you.
• Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.

• Active Ingredients: Each 5 ml of medicine contains Glycerol 0.75 ml and Sucrose 1.7 g.
• Other Ingredients: Citric Acid Monohydrate, Sodium Benzoate (E211), Anthocyanin, Blackcurrant Flavour and Juice (containing Propylene Glycol (E1520) and Benzyl Alcohol), Liquid Glucose and Purified Water.
