How long can I take Lemsip Max Cold & Flu Day & Night Capsules Pack of 16 for?

You should not take Lemsip Max Cold & Flu Day & Night Capsules Pack of 16 for more than 5 days without consulting a doctor or pharmacist. If your symptoms persist or worsen after this period, seek medical advice.

Directions

The capsules should be swallowed whole with water. Do not chew.

It is important to drink plenty of fluids when suffering from colds and flu.

Adults and children aged 16 years and over:

  • Daytime: Take two red and yellow capsules every 4-6 hours during the day, to a maximum of 3 doses (6 capsules) when necessary. Do not take more than 6 red and yellow capsules in any 24 hours.
  • Night-time: Take two blue and red capsules at night if needed.

Do not take more than 8 capsules (4 doses) in any 24 hours. Do not give to children under 16 years of age.

If the symptoms of your cold and flu persist for more than 5 days, or worsen, consult your pharmacist or doctor.

Warnings

Do not give Lemsip Max Cold & Flu Day & Night Capsules Pack of 16 to children under 16 years of age.

Do not take more medicine than the label tells you to. If symptoms persist for more than 5 days or worsen, talk to a doctor.

Important Warnings:

  • Contains Paracetamol: Do not take any other paracetamol-containing products while using this medicine. Immediately talk to a doctor if you take too much, even if you feel well, as this can cause delayed, serious liver damage.
  • Do not take if:
    • You are allergic to paracetamol, caffeine, phenylephrine hydrochloride, or any other ingredients listed in section 6.
    • You have a serious heart condition, high blood pressure (hypertension), or an overactive thyroid.
    • You are taking or have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (used to treat depression) within the last 14 days.
    • You are taking other sympathomimetic decongestants.
    • You have an enlarged prostate, phaeochromocytoma, diabetes mellitus, or closed-angle glaucoma.
  • Pregnancy and Breast-feeding: If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. This product should not be used in women with a history of pre-eclampsia.
  • Driving and using machines: This medicine can cause difficulty in sleeping, restlessness, nervousness, or mental confusion. Do not drive or use machines if you are affected by any of these symptoms.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking if:

  • You have Raynaud's syndrome (poor blood circulation).
  • You have a problem with your liver or kidneys, or a history of stomach ulcer.
  • You have non-cirrhotic liver disease.
  • You have severe illnesses, including severe renal impairment or sepsis, or suffer from malnutrition, chronic alcoholism, or are also taking flucloxacillin (an antibiotic).

Other Medicines:

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines, especially:

  • Beta-blockers, other antihypertensives, or vasodilators.
  • Tricyclic antidepressants, other decongestants, or barbiturates (for sleep problems or epilepsy).
  • Medicines affecting paracetamol (e.g., cholestyramine, metoclopramide, domperidone) or phenylephrine (e.g., MAOIs, other sympathomimetic amines, antihypertensives, tricyclic antidepressants, digoxin, cardiac glycosides).
  • Blood thinning drugs (warfarin, coumarins).
  • Cimetidine (for stomach acid) or disulfiram (for alcoholism) or oral contraceptives (may affect caffeine disposal).
  • Flucloxacillin (due to risk of blood and fluid abnormality).
  • Medicines for epilepsy (phenytoin, carbamazepine) or sleeping problems (pentobarbital, phenobarbital).
  • Isoniazid (for tuberculosis).
  • Oxytocin or ergot alkaloids (for migraine).

Each red and yellow Day capsule contains:

  • Active ingredients: Paracetamol 500mg, Caffeine 25mg, Phenylephrine Hydrochloride 6.1mg.
  • Other ingredients: Starch, croscarmellose sodium, sodium lauril sulfate, magnesium stearate, sterilised talc, gelatin, titanium dioxide (E171), patent blue V (E131), erythrosine (E127), and quinoline yellow (E104).

Each red and blue Night capsule contains:

  • Active ingredients: Paracetamol 500mg, Phenylephrine Hydrochloride 6.1mg.
  • Other ingredients: Starch, croscarmellose sodium, sodium lauril sulfate, magnesium stearate, sterilised talc, gelatin, titanium dioxide (E171), patent blue V (E131), and erythrosine (E127).

This medicine contains less than 23mg sodium per dose, making it essentially 'sodium-free'.
