FAQ
How long should I leave Lyclear Dermal Cream 30g on my skin?
You should leave Lyclear Dermal Cream 30g on your skin for at least 8 hours, ideally overnight. Avoid bathing, showering, or washing the treated areas during this time to ensure the treatment is effective. After this period, wash the cream off thoroughly with soap and water.
When should I reapply Lyclear Dermal Cream 30g?
One application of Lyclear Dermal Cream 30g is usually sufficient. However, if the infestation persists or returns after 14 days, you may need to repeat the treatment. Always consult the Patient Information Leaflet or speak to a Weldricks pharmacist for guidance.
Is Lyclear Dermal Cream 30g suitable for itching that continues after treatment?
The itching associated with scabies can continue for up to 4 weeks after using Lyclear Dermal Cream 30g, even after a successful treatment. This is because dead mites and eggs are still attached to the skin, causing irritation. There is usually no need to reapply the cream within this period; moisturisers and oil baths are often recommended for dry skin. If you are concerned, speak to your Weldricks pharmacist.
Can Lyclear Dermal Cream 30g be used on babies and young children?
Lyclear Dermal Cream 30g should not be used on newborns and infants less than 2 months of age unless directed by a doctor. For children aged 2 months to 23 months, treatment should only be given under close medical supervision. Always consult a healthcare professional before treating very young children.
Directions
Adults and children over 2 years old:
Apply the cream to the skin over the whole body including the palms and soles but NOT the head or face. Ensure that you cover the areas between the fingers and toes, under the nails, and on the wrists, arm-pits, external genitals and the buttocks.
Children under 2 years old:
Treat only under medical supervision. Treat as above but also treat the neck, face, ears and scalp. Avoid the area around the mouth and around the eyes.
Leave the cream on for 8 to 12 hours, then wash off with soap and water. If you wash your hands within 8 hours, reapply to the hands.
Approximate dosage: Adults: between 1 and 2 tubes depending on size. Children between 6 and 12: up to half a tube. Children between 1 and 5 years: up to a quarter of a tube. Babies: up to an eighth of a tube.
Only to be used by adults aged 18 and over. Apply sufficient cream to cover the pubic region, pubic hair, around the anus, the genitals, the inner thighs down to the knees and any hair that grows up from the pubic area to the stomach/chest.
One 30g tube is more than sufficient to treat one hairy adult. It is recommended that up to a third of a tube is used to treat the pubic region, peri-anal region, thighs, stomach and chest. No more than two thirds of the tube should be needed to complete the treatment.
The cream should be left on the skin for 24 hours. The treatment areas should then be thoroughly washed.
Any facial hair (beards, moustaches, eyebrows) should be checked for the presence of live lice and eggs. Cream should be applied to any infected facial hair. Eyelashes should be checked, but cream should NOT be applied to them; instead, lice or eggs should be removed with tweezers.
Leave cream on for around 24 hours, then wash thoroughly.
Patient Information LeafletWarnings
Do not use if you have ever had an allergic reaction to Lyclear Dermal Cream, Permethrin, other pyrethroids or pyrethrins, or any of the ingredients listed.
Take special care with Lyclear Dermal Cream if you are currently using a type of medicine called corticosteroid.
Lyclear Dermal Cream is for external use only.
Avoid contact with the eyes. In the event of eye contamination, rinse with water immediately.
Ensure the skin is clean, dry and cool. Do not take a hot bath immediately before treatment.
The cream rubs easily into the skin. You do not need to keep applying more cream until it can be seen on the surface of the skin.
If the contents of the tube are swallowed by a child, talk to your doctor immediately.
If too much cream is applied, it should be washed off with soap and warm water. If there are any signs of irritation, talk to your doctor.
Lyclear Dermal Cream may cause minor irritation for a short while.
The itching associated with scabies can continue for up to 4 weeks even after a successful application of Lyclear Dermal Cream, as the dead mites and eggs are still attached to the skin. There is no need to reapply the cream within this period.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using Lyclear Dermal Cream in pregnancy or whilst breast-feeding.
Ingredients

Directions
Adults and adolescents over 12 years old (for scabies):
- Apply up to 30g of cream (corresponding to one tube of 30g) to the whole body including the neck, palms of the hands and soles of the feet. The head and face can be spared unless this area includes places affected by scabies (itch mites).
- When applying the cream, the areas between the fingers and toes (also under the finger- and toe-nails), the wrists, elbows, armpits, external genitalia and buttocks should be especially carefully treated.
Children aged from 6-12 years (for scabies):
- Apply up to 15g of cream (corresponding to half a tube of 30g).
Children aged from 2 months - 5 years (for scabies):
- Apply up to 7.5g of cream (corresponding to a quarter of a tube of 30g).
- Children should apply the cream uniformly to the whole body, including the palms of the hands, soles of the feet, neck, face, ears, and scalp. Parts of the skin around the mouth (because the cream could be licked off) and the eyes should be spared. Keep your child from licking the cream from the hands. If necessary, children should wear gloves.
Newborns and infants under 2 months of age (for scabies):
- There is only limited amount of data available in this age group and no dose can be recommended. Treatment to children up to the age of 23 months should therefore only be treated under close medical supervision.
Elderly patients (over 65 years) (for scabies):
- Use the cream in the same way as adults but in addition, the face, ears and scalp should also be treated. Care should be taken to avoid applying the cream to areas of skin around the eyes.
Adults over 18 years of age (for crab lice):
- Apply up to 30g of cream (corresponding to one tube of 30g).
- Apply sufficient cream to cover the pubic region, pubic hair, around the anus, the genitals, the inner thighs down to the knees and any hair that grows up from the pubic area to the stomach/chest. No more than two-thirds of the tube should be needed to complete the treatment.
- Any facial hair (beards, moustaches, eyebrows) should be checked for the presence of live lice and eggs. Cream should be applied to any infected facial hair, carefully avoiding eyes. Eyelashes should be checked, but cream should NOT be applied to them; instead, lice or eggs should be removed with tweezers.
How long to use Lyclear Dermal Cream:
- One application of Lyclear Dermal Cream is usually sufficient.
- Leave the cream on the skin for at least eight hours, for example, overnight. Avoid bathing, showering or washing during this period, because this could endanger the success of treatment. If you have to wash your hands within the eight-hour period, then reapply the cream to the hands and wrist area. The same applies if you have to wash other parts of treated skin (buttocks, external genitalia).
- After at least eight hours, take a shower or wash the skin with soap and water.
- If, in cases of persistent or renewed infestation, it is necessary to repeat the treatment, do so after 14 days.
