How does an online doctor service work?
Our online doctor service allows you to consult with a qualified UK-based GP via video call, phone call or secure messaging. Simply book an appointment, describe your symptoms, and receive medical advice, prescriptions, or referrals from the comfort of your home.
Who can use Weldrick Pharmacy's Online Doctor?
Our Online Doctor service is available to all adults aged 18 and over living in the UK. Our GPs will determine your suitability for the various treatments available on an individual basis. They will use your age, health, symptoms, conditions and current medication to help evaluate which treatment is suitable.
Can I get a prescription through this service?
Yes, if your doctor determines that a prescription is necessary, they can send it electronically to your preferred pharmacy, where you can collect it or we can arrange for home delivery.
Can I get diagnosed by a doctor online?
Yes, your doctor will discuss your symptoms and health to determine what condition you might be suffering from and offer treatment options delivered to your home.
What conditions can an Online Doctor help with?
Online doctors can diagnose and treat a wide range of non-emergency conditions, including colds, flu, infections, skin conditions, mental health concerns, allergies, and minor injuries.
For urgent or life-threatening conditions, you must access emergency medical support by calling 999 or visiting A&E.
Are Online Doctors covered by the NHS or my private health insurance?
There are some online GP services available through the NHS, while others operate on a private basis. If you have private health insurance, check with your provider to see if they cover online consultations.
Can Online Doctors prescribe antibiotics?
Online GPs are able to offer a number of treatments following an online consultation including prescription treatments. The GP will discuss your symptoms to determine which treatment is best for you.
Can I let the doctor know my preferred treatment?
During your consultation, you’ll be presented with the available treatment options for your condition and asked if you have a preference. The clinician will assess whether your chosen treatment is suitable based on the health information you provide. If deemed appropriate, they will approve it, allowing the medication to be dispensed and dispatched.
