Pet Shield, made by KRKA, covers three product types: Flea Screen Combo (spot-on flea and tick treatment, separate cat and dog versions), Worm Screen tablets (for cats and dogs), and Worm Screen Spot-on solution (a wormer for cats only). All are stocked at Weldricks Pharmacy.
Regular treatments are crucial for preventing parasitic infestations. Fleas can cause intense itching, skin infections, and even transmit diseases, while various types of worms can lead to digestive issues, nutrient deficiencies, and in severe cases, more serious health problems. Consistent use of products like Pet Shield helps keep your pet healthy and happy.
Pet Shield products are formulated separately for cats and dogs. Flea Screen Combo for dogs must never be used on cats, ferrets or rabbits. Worm Screen Spot-on is cats only. Always check the packaging for minimum age and weight before use. If you're unsure which product suits your pet, or they have an existing health condition or are pregnant, speak to your vet or our pharmacy team.
Consider your pet's species (cat or dog), weight, and any specific parasitic concerns you might have. Pet Shield products are typically clearly labelled for their intended use. If you need assistance, our pharmacy team can offer general guidance, or you can consult your veterinarian for tailored advice.
It depends on the species. For cats, protection lasts 4 weeks against fleas and 2 weeks against ticks. For dogs, it lasts 8 weeks against fleas and 4 weeks against ticks. Both versions kill fleas within 24 hours and ticks within 48 hours, and stop flea eggs and larvae developing to help clear your home too.
Worm Screen tablets suit cats and dogs that will take a tablet directly or hidden in food. Worm Screen Spot-on is a cats-only alternative, applied to the skin at the base of the skull, for cats who are difficult to dose orally. Both treat roundworms, hookworms and tapeworms. If you're unsure which fits your cat, ask our pharmacy team.
