Its active ingredient, beclometasone dipropionate, is a type of steroid that soothes irritation and swelling in the nasal passages, providing comprehensive relief.

How Beconase Targets Your Allergy Symptoms

Beconase Hayfever is designed to prevent and treat the symptoms of both seasonal allergic rhinitis (commonly known as hayfever) and perennial rhinitis. This means whether your allergies are caused by:

• Pollens from grasses, trees, or weeds
• Dust mites
• Animal dander from pets like cats or dogs

It can help to reduce the inflammation that leads to uncomfortable symptoms. For optimal results, it's often recommended to start using Beconase a few days before your typical hayfever season begins, allowing it to build up its maximum protective effect.

Adults aged 18 or over:

• Use only in the nose. Shake gently before use.
• The usual starting dose is two sprays into each nostril twice a day (morning and evening).
• Use regularly, as it may take two or three days for Beconase Hayfever Nasal Spray 100 Dose to build up to its maximum protective effect.
• Once symptoms are under control, your doctor may advise you to use a lower dose, such as one spray into each nostril twice a day.
• If your symptoms then worsen, your dose may be increased back to the starting dose.
• Do not use more than 8 sprays (4 sprays per nostril) in over 24 hours.
• Beconase Hayfever Nasal Spray 100 Dose is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years of age.
• For the short-term (3 - 6 months) prevention of hayfever and other allergies.
• Discard 3 months after first using.
• PLEASE READ ALL PRODUCT PACKAGING AND LABELS PRIOR TO USE.
• KEEP ALL MEDICINES OUT OF THE REACH AND SIGHT OF CHILDREN.

Preparing your spray: A new spray (or one that has not been used for a few days) may not work first time. You need to 'prime' the spray by pumping it a few times until a fine mist is produced. Hold the bottle away from you, place your forefinger and middle finger on the collar either side of the nozzle, and your thumb underneath. Keep your thumb still and press down with your fingers to pump until a fine mist appears.

Using your spray:

1. Shake the bottle and take off the dust cap.
2. Blow your nose gently.
3. Close one nostril with your finger and put the nozzle in the other nostril. Tilt your head forward slightly and keep the bottle upright.
4. Start to breathe in slowly through your nose. While breathing in, press down firmly on the collar with your fingers to spray a fine mist into your nostril.
5. Breathe out through your mouth.
6. Repeat step 4 to use a second spray in the same nostril.
7. Remove the nozzle from this nostril and breathe out through your mouth.
8. Repeat steps 3 to 6 for your other nostril.
9. After using, wipe the nozzle carefully with a clean tissue and replace the dust cap.

Cleaning your spray: Clean your spray at least once a week, or more often if it gets blocked.

1. Take the dust cap off.
2. Pull upwards on the white collar to remove the nozzle.
3. Soak the nozzle and dust cap in warm water for a few minutes.
4. Rinse under a running tap.
5. Shake off excess water and let them dry in a warm place.
6. Put the nozzle back on the spray.
7. 'Prime' the bottle as described above.

Never try to unblock or enlarge the tiny spray hole with a pin or other sharp object. This will damage the way the spray works.

If you forget to use Beconase Hayfever Nasal Spray 100 Dose: If you miss a dose, just use the next dose when it is due.

If you use more Beconase Hayfever Nasal Spray 100 Dose than you should: Tell your doctor if you use more than you were told to.

Do not use Beconase Hayfever Nasal Spray 100 Dose if:

• You are allergic to beclometasone dipropionate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
• It is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years of age.

Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Beconase Hayfever Nasal Spray 100 Dose if:

• You have had steroids for a long time, either as an injection or by mouth.
• You have ever had an operation on your nose.
• You have an infection in your nose.
• You are pregnant or breastfeeding, or think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby.
• Your symptoms have not improved after using Beconase Hayfever Nasal Spray 100 Dose for 14 days.
• You plan to use this product continuously for more than 3 months.
• You experience blurred vision or other visual disturbances.

Beconase contains 0.02 mg benzalkonium chloride in each spray, which may cause irritation, swelling inside the nose, wheezing, and breathing difficulties (bronchospasm), especially if you have asthma.

Possible Side Effects:

Like all medicines, Beconase Hayfever Nasal Spray 100 Dose can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. If you get any of the side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed in the leaflet.

• Allergic reactions: Seek medical help immediately if you experience severe wheezing, difficulty breathing, or swelling around the face or throat.
• Immediately after use: You may sneeze a little, but this soon stops. Very occasionally, you may get an unpleasant taste or smell.
• Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people): Dry or painful nose or throat, nosebleeds, mild allergic reactions (skin rashes or redness, itching, weals like nettle rash or hives).
• Very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people): Damage to your nose, cloudy lens in the eye (cataract), increased pressure in the eye (glaucoma).
• Not Known (frequency cannot be estimated from available data): Blurred vision.

Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children. Do not store above 30°C. Protect from frost and light. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date. Stop using this bottle three months after you first opened it.

Active substance: Beclometasone Dipropionate 50 micrograms per spray.

Also contains: Microcrystalline Cellulose, Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose, Dextrose, Polysorbate 80, Purified Water.

Preservatives: Benzalkonium Chloride, Phenylethylalcohol.
