Warnings and Precautions
Before using Covonia Night Time Formula 150ml, please read the entire patient information leaflet carefully. Do not take this medicine if:
- You are under 12 years old.
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You have an allergy to any of the ingredients.
- You are taking, or have taken, MAOIs (monoamine oxidase inhibitors) or SSRIs for depression within the last two weeks.
- You have a shortage of breath, liver problems, porphyria, asthma, or a cough which produces phlegm.
- You are taking any other cough and cold medicine.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if:
- You have glaucoma, difficulty passing urine, prostate trouble, a blocked intestine, epilepsy, heart problems, a cough which lasts a long time, or are prone to allergies.
- You have been or are addicted to opioids, alcohol, prescription medicines, or illegal drugs, or have suffered withdrawal symptoms in the past.
- You are taking certain antidepressants or antipsychotics, cimetidine for stomach ulcers, medicines for Parkinson's disease (e.g., rasagiline, moclobenide, venlafaxine), medicines for anxiety or to help you sleep (e.g., diazepam), or memantine for Alzheimer's disease.
Driving and using machines:
This medicine causes drowsiness and you should not drive or operate machinery until the effects have worn off. Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine.
Important Ingredient Information:
This medicine contains less than 1mmol sodium (23mg) per 15ml dose and 18mg sodium benzoate. It also contains maltitol liquid and 3.675g sorbitol per 15ml dose. If you have an intolerance to some sugars or hereditary fructose intolerance (HFI), contact your doctor before use. The medicine contains 7.3% vol ethanol (alcohol); the amount in 15ml is equivalent to less than 22ml of beer or 9ml of wine.
Possible Side Effects:
Like all medicines, Covonia Night Time Formula can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. Stop use immediately and see a doctor if you experience important side effects such as swelling of the lips, mouth, eyes, or tongue, difficulty breathing, or fits. Other possible side effects include drowsiness, lack of concentration, dizziness, feeling excited or confused, depression, sleeping problems, headache, muscle twitching, trembling, blurred vision, stomach upsets, rash, skin blisters, pins and needles, dry mouth, thick saliva, low blood pressure, palpitations or irregular heartbeat, difficulty passing urine, blood or liver problems, eye problems (glaucoma), sweating, muscle pain, ringing in the ears, hair loss, dependence and addiction. If you experience withdrawal symptoms, speak to your doctor.
