Do not take Lemsip Max Cold & Flu Sachets Lemon Pack of 5 if:
- You are allergic to any ingredient listed in section 6 of the patient information leaflet.
- You have a serious heart condition.
- You have high blood pressure (hypertension) or an overactive thyroid.
- You are taking or have taken within the last 14 days a medicine called a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), usually used to treat depression.
- You are taking other sympathomimetic decongestants.
- You have an enlarged prostate.
- You have phaeochromocytoma.
- You have diabetes mellitus.
- You have closed-angle glaucoma.
- Do not take with any other paracetamol-containing products.
Warnings and precautions: Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if:
- You have Raynaud's syndrome (poor blood circulation which makes the fingers or toes pale and numb).
- You have a problem with your liver or kidneys.
- You have non-cirrhotic liver disease (liver disease that is not associated with changes in the structure of the liver).
- You have phenylketonuria.
During treatment, tell your doctor straight away if:
You have severe illnesses, including severe renal impairment or sepsis, suffer from malnutrition, chronic alcoholism, or are taking flucloxacillin (an antibiotic). A serious condition called metabolic acidosis has been reported in these situations when paracetamol is used at regular doses for a prolonged period or when taken together with flucloxacillin. Symptoms may include: serious breathing difficulties with deep rapid breathing, drowsiness, feeling sick (nausea) and being sick (vomiting).
Other medicines and Lemsip Max Cold & Flu Lemon:
Do not take with other paracetamol-containing products. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking:
- Beta-blockers for high blood pressure, other antihypertensives or vasodilators.
- Tricyclic anti-depressants, other decongestants, or barbiturates (used to treat sleep problems or epilepsy).
- Medicines that affect how paracetamol works (cholestyramine, metoclopramide, domperidone).
- Blood thinning drugs (warfarin and other coumarins).
- Medicines that affect how phenylephrine works (MAOIs, other sympathomimetic amines, antihypertensives, tricyclic antidepressants, digoxin and cardiac glycosides).
- Flucloxacillin (antibiotic), due to a serious risk of blood and fluid abnormality (high anion gap metabolic acidosis).
- Medicines used to treat epilepsy (phenytoin and carbamazepine), medicines used to treat sleeping problems (barbiturates such as pentobarbital, phenobarbital).
- Isoniazid (medicine used to treat tuberculosis).
- Oxytocin (medicine used to help contractions during childbirth) and ergot alkaloids (medicines used to treat migraine such as ergotamine, methylsergide), as they may increase the risk of brain stroke.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines.
Pregnancy and Breast-feeding:
This product should not be used in women with a history of pre-eclampsia. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this product if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
This medicine contains:
- Aspartame: A source of phenylalanine (65mg per sachet). May be harmful if you have phenylketonuria (PKU).
- Lactose and Sucrose: 2.17g of sucrose per sachet. Take into account if you have diabetes mellitus or an intolerance to some sugars.
- Sodium: 129.0 mg per sachet, equivalent to 6.45% of the recommended maximum daily dietary intake for an adult. The maximum daily dose contains 514.84 mg sodium. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor if you need this medicine daily for a prolonged period, especially if on a low salt diet.
If you take more Lemsip Max Cold & Flu Sachets Lemon Pack of 5 than you should:
Talk to a doctor at once, even if you feel well, due to the risk of delayed, serious liver damage from too much paracetamol. You may experience dizziness, palpitations, stomach pain, high blood pressure with headache, unhealthy pale appearance, feeling sick (nausea) or vomiting.
Possible Side-Effects:
Like all medicines, Lemsip Max Cold & Flu Sachets Lemon Pack of 5 can cause side effects, though not everybody gets them.
- Very rare (fewer than 1 in 10,000 patients treated): Serious skin reactions.
- Frequency not known: Allergic reactions (such as skin rashes), blood disorders (e.g., thrombocytopenia, pancytopenia), metabolic acidosis, headaches, high blood pressure or palpitations, stomach and gut disorder (vomiting, nausea, abdominal discomfort), difficulty in passing urine (especially in males).
