How MooGoo started
MooGoo began in 2005 when founder Craig Jones noticed his mother using a paste designed to keep cows' udders soft and supple to help manage her psoriasis. He reformulated it into a lighter, non-greasy cream — and MooGoo was born. The range has since grown from a single udder cream into a full skin, scalp, sun care, baby, body and dental care collection, sold worldwide and still Australian made.
MooGoo's approach is to use natural, edible-quality ingredients chosen for a specific purpose in each formula, rather than "free from" label claims for their own sake. Products are free of paraffin, parabens and phenoxyethanol, and MooGoo recommends patch-testing before use, as with any skincare product.
MooGoo sent a range of its products to an independent lab for patch testing on 54 people who reported sensitive skin, scored on a 0–5 irritation scale. Aside from two isolated reactions to the test patch adhesive itself, every subject scored 0 for redness and irritation across the products tested.

Explore the MooGoo Range
Plant-based actives used instead of harsher synthetic staples — bakuchiol as a natural retinol alternative, and an Argireline® peptide serum positioned as a gentler option to injectable/Botox-style routines.
- Bakuchiol serum — retinol alternative without the irritation
- Argireline® peptide serum for firmness & fine lines
- Non-abrasive salicylic acid exfoliant, gentle enough for sensitive skin
"Clear zinc" mineral protection made without chemical UV filters, penetration enhancers, parabens or phenoxyethanol — built to be kind to eczema-prone skin, not just sun-safe.
- No chemical UV filters — mineral zinc oxide defence
- Broad-spectrum UVA/UVB, family and baby-safe formulas
- Gradual tan options alongside the sunscreen range
This is the range MooGoo was built on — formulas developed specifically for reactive, flare-prone skin, not adapted from a general moisturiser line.
- Pink Eczema Cream — soothing, regenerating B12 formula for ongoing flare-ups
- Dedicated scalp cream for itchy, inflamed scalp, ears and hairline
- Independently dermatologically tested for irritation on sensitive skin
Built around Milk Protein, shown to help increase skin elasticity by up to 20%, in formulas gentle enough for babies and sensitive skin, and used in oncology clinics in Australia for skin affected by radiation therapy.
- Udder Cream — MooGoo's original 2005 formula, still made today
- MSM (organic sulphur) options to ease stressed, inflamed skin
- Suitable for babies through to adults with sensitive skin
SLS-free and silicone-free as standard, rather than as a premium add-on — built for scalps that react to mainstream haircare, not just for a softer finish.
- SLS-free Milk Shampoo for sensitive, itchy scalps
- Silicone-free conditioner — no build-up over time
- Dedicated Flake Free duo for dandruff, alongside a scalp repair cream
Built for families managing allergies and reactive skin — the nut-oil-free moisturiser uses Evening Primrose Oil instead of nut oils, and the baby shampoo uses Piroctone Olamine to help balance scalp microflora rather than just cleanse.
- Soap-free, SLS-free 2-in-1 wash for newborns
- Nut-oil-free soothing moisturiser with 10% MSM
- Nipple balm for nursing mums alongside baby's own range
The deodorants are 100% free from bicarb soda and aluminium, working by neutralising odour-causing bacteria rather than blocking sweat glands — and the lip balms are made from genuinely edible oils, on the basis that anything on the lips eventually gets eaten.
- Aluminium-free, bicarb-free roll-on deodorants for sensitive skin
- Milk-based cleansing bars — oatmeal, buttermilk, goat's milk
- Lip balms made with edible coconut, jojoba and almond oils, no paraffin
Uses Calcium Hydroxyapatite — the same mineral that makes up tooth enamel — as a remineralising fluoride alternative, developed alongside dental professionals for people who prefer to avoid fluoride.
- Fluoride-free toothpaste using Calcium Hydroxyapatite to remineralise enamel
- Alcohol-free, fluoride-free antibacterial spearmint mouthwash
- Family-friendly formulas, safe for children
As with any skincare or hair care product, MooGoo recommends patch-testing before first use, particularly for anyone with known allergies or very reactive skin. If you have a specific skin condition or are unsure which product is right for you, our pharmacy team is happy to help.
FAQs about MooGoo
Where is MooGoo made?
MooGoo is Australian made and family owned, founded by Craig Jones in 2005. The brand is based in the UK for the UK market and its products are sold worldwide.
Is MooGoo cruelty-free?
Yes — MooGoo describes its range as clean and cruelty-free, with a vegan-friendly collection also available.
Should I patch-test MooGoo products before use?
Yes. MooGoo recommends patch-testing all products before use, as natural ingredients — like fruits, nuts, dairy or seafood — can still trigger reactions in some people even though they work well for most.
Which MooGoo cream is right for eczema-prone skin?
MooGoo offers several options for dry, red, itchy or flare-prone skin: the Eczema Cream 120g for general eczema symptoms, the Pink Eczema Cream 120g (a soothing, regenerating B12 formula for ongoing flare-ups), and the Sensitive Skin Balm 120g for itchy, irritated, inflamed skin more broadly. If you're unsure which suits your skin, ask our pharmacy team for guidance.
Are MooGoo products suitable for babies?
MooGoo has a dedicated Baby & Child range including a gentle shampoo, a nut-oil-free soothing moisturiser, a 2-in-1 bubbly wash, a nappy balm and a nipple balm for nursing mums. As with all products, patch-testing is recommended, and parents with specific concerns about a baby's skin should speak to a pharmacist or health visitor.
