The Pet Remedy diffuser works through a constant, slow release in the room where your pet spends most time, so it helps to swap the refill straight away rather than leave the diffuser empty. With a second refill in the cupboard, the change takes seconds. Two refills cover up to 16 weeks: long enough to run from the start of fireworks season through Christmas and New Year. Each refill contains Pet Remedy's blend of valerian, vetiver, sweet basil and clary sage, which the brand describes as non-sedating. The diffuser unit isn't included: if you're new to Pet Remedy, start with the plug-in diffuser from our Pet Remedy range.

1. Fit a 40ml refill to your Pet Remedy plug-in diffuser.
2. Plug the diffuser into a socket in the room where your pet spends the most time.
3. Leave it switched on continuously.
4. Replace the refill when it runs out, after up to 8 weeks.

• For birds and small mammals, place the diffuser in a well-ventilated room and away from cages, not directly beside them.
• If your pet's behaviour does not improve, or you have any concerns, speak to your vet.
