Description

Comprehensive 12-Week Parasite Protection for Your Small Cat

Bravecto Plus Spot-on for Small Cats (1.2 – 2.8kg) offers convenient, long-lasting protection against fleas, ticks, and various internal parasites. With a single application, your cat receives up to 12 weeks of defence, simplifying your pet care routine and ensuring their continuous wellbeing. This broad-spectrum solution is a trusted choice for managing parasitic infestations.

Effective Against a Wide Range of Parasites

The active ingredients, Fluralaner and Moxidectin, work together to combat multiple threats:

  • Fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) & Ticks (Ixodes ricinus): Provides immediate and persistent killing activity for 12 weeks. Fluralaner acts systemically to eliminate these external parasites once they start feeding.
  • Ear Mites (Otodectes cynotis): Effectively treats infestations, helping to alleviate discomfort and prevent further issues.
  • Gastrointestinal Nematodes: Addresses infections with intestinal roundworms (Toxocara cati) and hookworms (Ancylostoma tubaeforme), crucial for your cat's digestive health.
  • Heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis) & Lungworm (Aelurostrongylus abstrusus): When administered regularly at 12-week intervals, Bravecto Plus helps to prevent heartworm disease and aelurostrongylosis.

Bravecto Plus Spot-on can also be used as part of a treatment strategy for Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD), helping to reduce symptoms caused by flea bites. For professional advice on your cat's specific needs, please consult your prescribing veterinarian.

Directions

Method of Administration

For spot-on use. Always ensure you are using the correct pipette size for your cat's weight (1.2 – 2.8 kg for Bravecto Plus 112.5 mg + 5.6 mg spot-on solution).

  1. Immediately before use, open the sachet and remove the pipette. It is recommended to put on disposable protective gloves.
  2. Hold the pipette by the base or the upper rigid portion below the cap in an upright position (tip up) for opening it.
  3. Rotate the twist-and-use cap clockwise or counter-clockwise one full turn. The cap will stay on the pipette; it is not possible to remove it. The pipette is open and ready for application when the breaking of the seal is felt.
  4. The cat should be standing or lying with its back horizontal for easy application.
  5. Place the pipette tip on the base of the skull of the cat.
  6. Squeeze the pipette gently and apply the entire contents directly to the cat's skin in one spot (for cats up to 6.25 kg body weight).

Frequency of Administration

  • Fleas and Ticks: Provides immediate and persistent killing activity for 12 weeks.
  • Heartworm & Aelurostrongylosis Prevention: Administer repeatedly at a 12-week interval.
  • Ear Mites & Gastrointestinal Nematodes: A single dose should be applied. The need for, and frequency of, re-treatment should be evaluated by your prescribing veterinarian. Where necessary, cats can be re-treated at 12-week intervals.

Warnings

Contraindications

  • Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to the active substance (Fluralaner, Moxidectin) or to any of the excipients.

Special Warnings for Animals

  • Ticks and fleas need to start feeding on the host to be exposed to Fluralaner; therefore, the risk of transmission of parasite-borne diseases cannot be excluded.
  • For cats in areas endemic for heartworm (or those who have travelled to endemic areas), it is recommended that animals of 6 months of age or older should be tested for existing adult heartworm infections before applying this product for prevention. The product has no therapeutic effect against adult Dirofilaria immitis.
  • For prevention in temporarily endemic areas, apply before the first expected exposure to mosquitoes and continue at 12-week intervals until returning to a non-endemic area (period should not exceed 60 days).
  • Unnecessary use of antiparasitics or use deviating from instructions may increase resistance selection pressure. Base decision on confirmed parasitic species/burden or risk of infestation.
  • The possibility of re-infection from other animals in the same household should be considered.
  • Avoid contact with the animal's eyes.
  • Do not use directly on skin lesions.
  • Not recommended for kittens less than 9 weeks of age or cats less than 1.2 kg bodyweight.
  • Treatment of male breeding animals is not recommended.
  • This veterinary medicinal product is for topical use only and should not be administered orally.
  • Prevent the animal from licking and ingesting the product after application.
  • Do not allow recently treated animals to groom each other, or come into contact with untreated animals, until the application site is dry (up to 48 hours).
  • Avoid frequent swimming or shampooing the animal, as effectiveness has not been tested in these cases.

Special Precautions for the Person Administering the Product

  • Contact with the product should be avoided. Wear disposable protective gloves (obtained with the product at point of sale) when handling.
  • Hypersensitivity reactions have been reported in a small number of people. Persons with known hypersensitivity to Fluralaner or any excipients should avoid exposure.
  • The product binds to skin and may bind to surfaces after spillage. Skin rashes, tingling, or numbness have been reported after skin contact. If skin contact occurs, wash the affected area immediately with soap and water. In some cases, soap and water may not be sufficient on fingers.
  • Contact may occur when handling a treated animal. Ensure the application site is no longer noticeable before cuddling or sharing a bed with the animal (up to 48 hours after application, but may be noticeable longer).
  • If skin reactions occur on a person, consult a physician and show them the veterinary medicinal product packaging.
  • People with sensitive skin or known allergies should handle the product and treated animals with caution.
  • The product can cause eye irritation. In case of eye contact, rinse thoroughly with water.
  • The product is harmful after ingestion. Keep in original packaging, out of reach of children. Dispose of used pipettes immediately. In case of accidental ingestion, seek medical advice and show the package leaflet.
  • The product is highly flammable. Keep away from heat, sparks, open flame, or other ignition sources.
  • In case of spillage onto surfaces, remove excess with paper tissue and clean the area with detergent.
  • The product should not enter water courses as Fluralaner and Moxidectin may be dangerous for fish and other aquatic organisms.

Adverse Reactions

  • Common (1 to 10 animals / 100 animals treated): Skin reactions at the application site (application site alopecia, flaking skin, application site reddening, and application site pruritus).
  • Uncommon (1 to 10 animals / 1,000 animals treated): Dyspnoea (after licking the application site), Tachypnoea; Hypersalivation, Emesis, Haematemesis, Diarrhoea; Lethargy, Pyrexia; Mydriasis.
  • Very rare (<1 animal / 10,000 animals treated, including isolated reports): Anorexia; Neurological disorders (e.g., tremor, ataxia).

Use During Pregnancy, Lactation or Lay

The safety of the product has not been established in pregnant or lactating animals, and therefore use in such animals is not recommended.

Therefore, during treatment with Bravecto Plus, other products that inhibit p-glycoprotein (e.g., cyclosporine, ketoconazole, spinosad, verapamil) should only be used concomitantly according to the benefit-risk assessment of the responsible veterinarian.
