What is the difference between Day Nurse and Night Nurse?

Day Nurse Tablets Pack of 18 are specifically formulated for daytime use, providing non-drowsy relief from cold and flu symptoms. In contrast, Night Nurse contains ingredients designed to help you sleep while relieving symptoms. It is important not to take Day Nurse and Night Nurse at the same time or to exceed recommended dosages of either.

Directions

 

  • Adults (including the elderly): Swallow 2 tablets up to 3 times daily. Leave at least 4 hours between doses. Do not take more than 6 tablets in 24 hours.
  • Adolescents aged 16 to 18 years: Give 1 to 2 tablets up to 3 times daily. Leave at least 4 hours between doses. Do not give more than 6 tablets in 24 hours.
  • Adolescents aged 12 to 15 years: Give 1 tablet up to 3 times daily. Leave at least 4 hours between doses. Do not give more than 3 tablets in 24 hours.

Always use the lowest effective dose to relieve your symptoms for the shortest period of time necessary.

Take the tablets with a glass of water.

Warnings

It is crucial to read the entire Patient Information Leaflet before taking Day Nurse Tablets Pack of 18. Key warnings include:

  • Leave at least 4 hours between doses.
  • Do not take more than 6 tablets in 24 hours.
  • Do not take for more than 5 days. If you do not get better, talk to your doctor.
  • Do not take more medicine than the label tells you to.
  • Contains paracetamol. Do not exceed the recommended dose as it may cause serious harm to your liver. Do not use this medicine if you are taking any other medicines which may contain paracetamol, including prescription or non-prescription medicines to treat pain, fever, or symptoms of cold and flu.
  • Do not take with other flu, cold, or decongestant products.
  • Day Nurse Tablets Pack of 18 is not recommended during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
  • One of the active ingredients, pseudoephedrine, has the potential to be abused and large doses can be toxic. Continuous use may lead to taking more than the recommended dose, increasing the risk of overdosing. The recommended maximum dose and treatment duration should not be exceeded.
  • Do not take Day Nurse Tablets Pack of 18 if you:
    • Are allergic to paracetamol, pseudoephedrine hydrochloride or any other ingredients in the product.
    • Are taking other sympathomimetics (such as decongestants, tricyclic antidepressants).
    • Have very high blood pressure (severe hypertension) or hypertension not controlled by your medication.
    • Have an overactive thyroid gland, enlarged prostate, heart problems, glaucoma (excessive pressure inside your eyes).
    • Have severe acute (sudden) or chronic (long term) kidney disease or kidney failure.
    • Have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), usually prescribed for depression, in the last two weeks.
    • Are taking moclobemide for depression, beta-blockers for high blood pressure, oxazolidinone class of antibiotics (e.g. furazolidone or linezolid), appetite suppressants, stimulant drugs called amphetamines.
    • Develop a feverish generalised erythema associated with pustules; stop taking Haleon Day Nurse and contact your doctor or seek medical attention immediately.
    • Are under 12 years.
  • Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Day Nurse Tablets Pack of 18 if you:
    • Are due to undergo general anaesthesia, or have liver disease (including alcoholic liver disease), diabetes, psychosis, irregular heart beat, or phaeochromocytoma (a tumour near the kidney).
    • Suffer from glutathione depletion due to metabolic deficiencies.
    • Are more than 60 years old, as there is an increased possibility of unwanted effects.
    • Are taking medicines that affect your liver.
  • Check with your doctor before use if you have liver or kidney problems, are underweight (<50kg), become malnourished or regularly drink alcohol, as this may increase your risk of liver damage.
  • This product can cause dizziness as a side effect which could affect your ability to drive or use machines. Do not drive or operate machinery if affected.
  • Stop taking this medicine and seek immediate medical attention if you experience serious conditions affecting blood vessels in the brain (PRES and RCVS), inflammation of the colon (ischaemic colitis), unexplained bruising or bleeding, allergic reactions, difficulty in passing urine (more likely in men with enlarged prostate), sudden onset of fever/skin reddening (AGEP), or reduced blood flow to the optic nerve (ischaemic optic neuropathy).
  • Symptoms of metabolic acidosis may include: serious breathing difficulties with deep rapid breathing, drowsiness, feeling sick (nausea) and being sick (vomiting).
  • This medicine contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23mg) per tablet, that is to say essentially 'sodium-free'.
Ingredients

The active ingredients are Paracetamol 500 mg and Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride 30 mg.

The other ingredients are cellulose microcrystalline (E460), silica, colloidal anhydrous (E551), stearic acid (E570), magnesium stearate (E572), starch pregelatinised, povidone, crospovidone, croscarmellose sodium (E468), hypromellose (E464), macrogol, carnauba wax (E903), indigo carmine (E132).
