Laxatract Syrup for Dogs & Cats 667mg/ml 50ml is a veterinary prescription product designed to help manage and treat constipation in your beloved pets. Containing 667mg/ml of lactulose, this syrup works gently to support regular bowel movements for both dogs and cats, offering relief from discomfort.

Description

Lactulose, the active ingredient in Laxatract Syrup 667mg/ml 50ml, is an osmotically acting laxative that aids in facilitating defecation. It is particularly useful for pets suffering from constipation due to various factors, such as intestinal atony after surgery, hairballs, or massive intestinal contents. It can also provide symptomatic treatment for conditions requiring easier bowel movements, including partial obstructions caused by tumours or fractures, rectal diverticulum, proctitis, and even certain types of poisoning.

How Lactulose Works for Your Pet

Lactulose is a synthetic disaccharide that is not absorbed in the small intestine. Once it reaches the colon, gut bacteria metabolise it into low molecular weight acids. These acids have two main actions:

  • They increase the osmotic pressure in the bowel, drawing water into the colon and softening the stool, which helps to ease passage.
  • They acidify the colonic contents, which further assists the natural process of defecation.

This dual action makes Laxatract Syrup an effective solution for promoting comfortable and regular bowel function in dogs and cats. Administering this veterinary medicine is straightforward, as it can be mixed with food or given directly into your pet's mouth. Weldricks Pharmacy is committed to providing accessible and trusted pet care solutions, ensuring your furry friends receive the best support.
