Description

Targeted Relief for Canine Itching and Skin Conditions

When your dog suffers from persistent itching and discomfort due to allergic dermatitis or atopic dermatitis, it can significantly impact their overall well-being. Numelvi 31.6mg Tablet for Dogs, with its active substance Atinvicitinib 31.6 mg, provides effective relief by addressing the underlying causes of this discomfort.

How Atinvicitinib Works to Reduce Itching and Inflammation

Atinvicitinib is a selective Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor, specifically targeting the JAK1 enzyme. This enzyme plays a crucial role in the pathways that lead to inflammation and pruritus in dogs. By inhibiting JAK1, Atinvicitinib 31.6 mg helps to:

  • Reduce the inflammatory response in the skin, which contributes to redness and irritation.
  • Lessen the sensation of itching, providing much-needed relief from constant scratching.
  • Allow your dog to recover and enjoy daily activities without the distress of continuous scratching.

This targeted action helps manage the clinical manifestations of these challenging skin conditions, offering your pet much-needed comfort and improving their overall skin health.

Warnings

Contraindications:

  • Do not use Numelvi 31.6mg Tablet for Dogs in cases of hypersensitivity to the active substance (Atinvicitinib) or any of the excipients.

Special Precautions for Use in Target Species (Dogs):

  • The safety of this veterinary medicinal product has not been investigated in dogs younger than 6 months of age or weighing less than 3 kg. Use in such animals should be based on a thorough benefit-risk assessment by a responsible veterinarian.
  • Complicating factors, such as bacterial, fungal, or parasitic infections (e.g., fleas, Demodex mites), as well as any underlying causes of allergic and atopic dermatitis (e.g., flea allergy, contact allergy, food allergy), should be investigated and treated concurrently.
  • The use of Numelvi 31.6mg Tablet for Dogs has not been evaluated in combination with systemic immunosuppressive agents such as glucocorticoids or cyclosporine.
  • Safety has not been investigated in dogs with evidence of immunosuppression (for example, uncontrolled primary hypothyroidism, rickettsial disease) or dogs with evidence of progressive malignant neoplasia. Use in these cases should be based on a benefit-risk assessment by a responsible veterinarian.

Use During Pregnancy, Lactation, or in Breeding Animals:

  • The safety of this veterinary medicinal product has not been established during pregnancy and lactation or in breeding dogs.
  • The use of Numelvi 31.6mg Tablet for Dogs is not recommended during pregnancy and lactation. Laboratory studies in rats and rabbits have shown effects on prenatal development related to the class of JAK inhibitors.
  • The use of this product is not recommended in breeding animals, as laboratory studies in male rats showed an effect on sperm counts and motility.

Common Adverse Events (Side Effects):

In dogs, the following adverse events were observed in 1 to 10 animals out of 100 treated:

  • Emesis (vomiting)
  • Diarrhoea
  • Lethargy
  • Anorexia (loss of appetite)

It is important to report any adverse events to your veterinarian or the national competent authority to ensure ongoing safety monitoring of veterinary medicinal products.

Symptoms of Overdose:

For atinvicitinib, a high selectivity of JAK1 was shown, reducing the potential for adverse effects mediated via the inhibition of other JAK family enzymes. The veterinary medicinal product was well tolerated when administered orally to healthy 6-month-old puppies treated with overdoses of up to 5 times the maximum recommended dose once daily over a period of 6 months. However, the administration of significant overdoses of the veterinary medicinal product may lead to a higher susceptibility to infection; for example, the development of bacterial, fungal and/or parasitic skin disease in treated dogs. In the event of adverse clinical effects following an overdose, the dog should be treated symptomatically.

Special Precautions for the Person Administering the Product:

  • Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water immediately after administering the veterinary medicinal product.

Disposal of Unused Veterinary Medicinal Products or Waste Materials:

  • Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater.
  • Utilise take-back schemes for the disposal of any unused veterinary medicinal product or waste materials in accordance with local requirements and national collection systems.
