Is the Wegovy tablet as effective as the injection?
Both forms contain the same active ingredient, semaglutide. The OASIS 4 trial showed average weight loss of around 17% with the 25mg tablet over 64 weeks, while early responders achieved up to 22%. The Wegovy injection STEP-1 trial showed average loss of around 17% over 68 weeks, with the newer 7.2mg dose achieving 21% over 72 weeks. Results are broadly comparable, though direct head-to-head trials have not yet been published.
Can I switch from the Wegovy injection to the tablets?
Yes. Switching is possible under clinical supervision. Your starting tablet dose will depend on which injection dose you're currently on. For example, if you're on the 2.4mg injection, you'd move to the 25mg tablet. Our pharmacists will advise the appropriate dose during your consultation.
