Frequently Asked Questions for Fertility Products

When is the best time to take an ovulation test?

Knowing when to take an ovulation test depends on your cycle length. Most women should start testing a few days before their expected midpoint. For the most accurate results, it is best to test at the same time each day, ideally in the afternoon, once your period has ended. If you are wondering how to read an ovulation test, a positive result typically shows a test line as dark as, or darker than, the control line.

Can an ovulation test detect pregnancy?

Many women ask whether an ovulation test will be positive if pregnant, as the hormones LH and hCG are molecularly similar. While a test might show a strong positive during early pregnancy, it is not a reliable method. If you have a faint line on an ovulation test and suspect you conceived, it is best to wait until your missed period to use a dedicated Pregnancy Test.
