Important Warnings for Ibuleve Maximum Strength Gel 50g
Do not use Ibuleve Maximum Strength Gel 50g if:
- You are allergic (hypersensitive) to ibuprofen or any of its other ingredients.
- You are asthmatic, or suffer from rhinitis (allergic runny nose) or urticaria (hives) and have ever had a bad reaction to aspirin, ibuprofen, or other NSAIDs in the past.
- You are pregnant or breast-feeding.
- It is for use on broken, damaged, infected, or diseased skin.
- It is for use on children under 12 years old unless advised by a doctor.
Take special care when using Ibuleve Maximum Strength Gel 50g:
- Use only on intact skin.
- Keep the gel away from your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- There is a risk of severe burns. Do not smoke or go near naked flames while using this product, as fabrics (clothing, bedding, dressings etc) that have been in contact with this product burn more easily. Washing clothing and bedding may reduce product build-up but not totally remove it.
- Serious skin reactions: Stop using the gel and seek medical attention immediately if you notice symptoms such as reddish, non-elevated, target-like or circular patches, central blisters, skin peeling, ulcers of mouth, throat, nose, genitals and eyes (e.g., exfoliative dermatitis, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, DRESS syndrome, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis). These may be preceded by fever and flu-like symptoms.
Before applying this product for the first time, make sure it is suitable for you to use. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if:
- You have a stomach ulcer (peptic or gastric ulcer).
- You have ever had kidney problems.
- You have ever had asthma.
- You have ever had a bad reaction to aspirin or ibuprofen taken by mouth.
Using other medicines:
- Although very unlikely with topical application, interaction with blood pressure lowering drugs and anticoagulants is possible in theory. If you are taking aspirin or other NSAIDs by mouth, discuss this with your doctor or pharmacist first, as it may increase the risk of undesirable effects.
- Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including those obtained without prescription.
Possible side effects:
Like all medicines, Ibuleve Maximum Strength Gel 50g can cause side effects, though not everyone experiences them. Common side effects include mild skin rashes, itching, or irritation at the application site. Skin may also become sensitive to light. If these reactions are unacceptable or persist, stop using the product and tell your doctor or pharmacist. Serious side effects, though rare, can include severe skin reactions, generalised allergic reactions (especially if you have a history of asthma or allergic problems), kidney problems (e.g., decreased urine volume, swelling), and digestive system issues (e.g., stomach pain, heartburn). If you experience any severe side effects, stop use and seek medical attention immediately.
