How Paramol Works to Relieve Your Pain

Each Paramol Tablet contains two powerful ingredients:

Paramol Tablets should be taken during or after meals.

Adults and adolescents 16 years old and over: Take one or two tablets every four to six hours. Do not take more than 8 tablets in any 24 hour period.

Adolescents 12–15 years old: Take one tablet every four to six hours. Do not take more than 4 tablets in any 24 hour period.

Children under 12 years: Not recommended for children under 12 years.

Take care when increasing the dose in the elderly. If symptoms persist or worsen, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Do not take this medicine for more than 3 days continuously without medical review.

If you need to use this medicine for more than three days you must speak to your doctor or pharmacist.

This medicine contains dihydrocodeine and can cause addiction if you take it continuously for more than three days. When you stop taking it you may get withdrawal symptoms. You should talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you think you are suffering from withdrawal symptoms.

If you take too many of the tablets seek immediate medical advice, even if you feel well, because of the risk of delayed, serious liver damage. Overdose can also lead to coagulation disorders which can result in excessive blood clotting or bleeding.

Important Warnings:

• This medicine contains dihydrocodeine, which can cause addiction if you take it continuously for more than 3 days. This can give you withdrawal symptoms when you stop taking it. If you take a painkiller for headaches for more than 3 days it can make them worse.
• Do not take this medicine for more than 3 days. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have taken this medicine for more than 3 days and still have pain.
• Do not take with other products containing paracetamol or dihydrocodeine.

Who should not take Paramol Tablets Easy To Swallow Pack of 12:

• Children under 12 years of age.
• People with very slow, shallow breathing (respiratory depression).
• People having an asthma attack or with chronic obstructive airways disease.
• People with a head injury or raised pressure inside the skull (raised intracranial pressure).
• People who have or who are at risk of getting a blockage in the gut (paralytic ileus).
• If you are allergic to dihydrocodeine, paracetamol, or any of the other ingredients.

Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking Paramol if you:

• Have liver or kidney problems.
• Have epilepsy.
• Have an underactive thyroid gland.
• Have problems with your gall bladder or bile duct.
• Have a history of drug or alcohol misuse.
• Are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
• Are taking other medicines, especially those that cause drowsiness (e.g., sedatives, tranquilizers, antidepressants, medicines for Parkinson's disease, anti-sickness medicines) or medicines that affect how paracetamol works (e.g., warfarin, metoclopramide, domperidone, cholestyramine).

Driving and Operating Machinery:

• Paramol can cause drowsiness, dizziness, light-headedness, blurred vision, or double vision. Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience these side effects.
• New drug drive legislation came into force from 2 March 2015 in England and Wales. So long as you are following the advice of a healthcare professional and your driving isn’t impaired you can continue to drive as usual and aren’t at risk of arrest. However, if experiencing any side effects such as drowsiness or dizziness, do not drive.

If you experience any severe side effects or an allergic reaction (e.g., swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing, rash, itching), stop taking Paramol and seek medical attention immediately.
